| Oregon Coast Beach House
Trip - 8/00 |
| I managed to pull together most of the cool
people I know from Reed for a trip out to the Oregon coast. Not
knowing exactly what to expect from our web discovered beach house, we were
quite happy when we arrived. The summary of our stay -- a short piece
by Keith Finlay and a friend (who shall remain anonymous for political
reasons) and a collectively inspired poem
using haikus and limericks arranged in AABBA form -- was recorded in the cabin log. |
| We took a little while to get out of Portland, so we didn't arrive to the beach house
until after dark. As we unloaded the car and walked out on the balcony to see the
moon rising over the bay, we were rest assured that the weekend would be good. |
When we awoke the next morning we saw what truly great view we had from our deck. |
| Later in the day, two more car-loads arrived and we went down to the beach to play
frisbee and watch Caleb and Quincy fumble with a kite. |
With thick, juicy hamburger patties, ribs, corn grilled in the husk, wine, and beer on
tap, we stuffed ourselves silly as the sun fell into evening. |
| By the setting sun, we carried our essentials down to the beach for a bon fire. |
While searching for firewood we found what must have been a sign from
God. What else to do with a stick naturally formed in the shape of a cross, but to
watch it burn. |
After a short shopping excursion on Sunday, Caleb and Quincy finally got do some kite
flying. |
| The sun and super fine sand was too much to let go to waste. Everyone devoted
their efforts to soaking up as much relaxation as possible. |
| But nobody could beat the queen of relaxation. |
| After a full relaxation session, we all took a few to de-sand. I think
everyone went home with a few souvenirs. |
| Thanks you guys. I had a great time. |
